Sun-rays in a painting is always fun. Dry brush scrubbing with almost no paint on the brush can make the rays.

Like everything we do in art it can become a gimmick or a tool. Angles and as always it is shadows. Light expands. Dark contracts. Put your lightest light next to the darkest dark.

Contrast color against color. Red against green. Blue against orange. Let these colors hit the viewers eye and blend or bounce.

We can use the silhouette to define our distant horizion. Tan for the sandy beach and a tooth brush to flick shells and rocks on the beach.

Have fun with it and paint on.

Keep your brushes wet.

When you're sick sometimes you think you're the only one. No one feels as bad as you. You must suffer through the ache and pain. Then you see someone who is truly sick. Or maybe they are handicapped. Then you suddenly are very thankful for your lowly illness.

God give us our own mountain to take care of. So take care of it. Don't pass it on. Keep it as long as you need to, then let it go.

I like to paint mountains, I have seen a few. I have climbed a few little ones. I have made some mole hills in to mountains.

Keep your mountain and your brushes in good shape.

Which one do you see? Sunset, or Sunrise. Is the day just starting or is the day just about to end? As an artist are we painting the atmosphere? Or are we painting our feelings/

In the painting of any picture we add our feelings and who we are regardless of what we try not to do.

Sometimes by doing less we add more or vice versa. By doing so you can suggest interest. I always want a busy sky. But look at the sky and only when a storm or something like that is happening do we have that.

I want to make less of the busy sky. Unless you are painting a whole storm. Let a few clouds float by.

Keep your sunset and sunrise clean and your brushes wet.

I like painting this type of scene. The horizion is high and the sky is calm. We can put the people in it for more interest

Everyone wants to go swimming, or at least get wet. I like the dark look to the water at the sky line. and the aqua of the shallow and deeper waters.

A quick water color sketch could do justice to this little pic.

Well lets get our bathing suits on and keep your brushes wet.

In every painting you will find light and shadow some are correct and some are not.Even with cubist or abstract paintings.

Usually the light comes in and highlights an object touching the sides or parts that stick out the most, emphasizing the shape of the object.

But the shadows are just as important. It rounds the shape in this painting.

Light and shadow, the light expands, the dark contracts.

So keep your brushes wet!

Hopeful this time next week the weather will cooperate. We'll be cooking and getting stuff ready.

Silly games will be played and we will laugh. Grab your family and laugh with them.

This year is north of the border and the picture is still in the air.

I always enjoy these cookouts so get ready for Texas / Western trivia and lasso some fun.

Next week we will be doing the Watkins Family cookout and painting wing ding.

Looking forward to it. I believe we are going to do the western theme. Cowboys and Cowgirls.
