I have three very talented boys. Jon does these characters, Andy paints super real paintings, and Dan can wheel and deal.

So very lucky to have these guys and so very proud. I know if you read this little blog you could care less, but your children can bring you the greatest joy and the deepest sorrow. I am very thankful for mine.

If you have children I suggest today you grab them and hug them!

Set down and draw or paint with them and if it is a mess of color, say wow that's neat and paint on.

Painting, drawing even music open up the mind.

Keep painting and get your brushes wet.

How many times have you started to paint or draw and stopped? How many times have you beat yourself up because you were not as good as you wanted to be? Every artist I know of has done it. We all want to be as good as the old masters.

Well I have a solution to the problem, "Give yourself permission" to goof up, to start over, or try again.

By giving yourself permission to make a mistake you gain more than you lose. Bob Ross said, " We don't make mistakes we have happy accidents." Meaning we can fix or work with these accident.

I like this Indian picture, it is a reminder of the warrior who keep on fighting.

Keep your brushes wet and give yourself permission....

Some folks I talk to say they can't paint or draw. But all drawing and painting is a desire. If you want to you can!

This is so simple it is not even funny. I painted the back ground blue and did not blend it to much. Then I painted a few dark lines. Then with white and yellow I made the dots. Some grey was on the brush so I did a few grey dots.

For me the biggest thing in painting is stopping. When do I stop? Well I heard someone say don't play, putter, or pick. Once you are doing that it is time to stop!!!!

Well lets get our brushes wet and paint on.

With watercolor you can work light to dark but if you leave a spot for the light then you can always add light.

This Blue spruce is in my front yard and has been for about 12 years. I have painted it in the various lights and snows or rain.This was a sunny day and the warm morning light was lighting up the right side of the tree.

Watercolor is fun in this application and I enjoy the lost in thought and the doing of the project. I looked up and the time had flown by. Do you ever find that your doing something so interesting and suddenly time is just gone?

Well kids keep your watercolors light and your brushes wet.

This is a bush I have in the yard, I don't know its name. Yet this tree, bush, or weed grows and blooms every year. When I got it it had no root ball. I dug a hole in the ground and added fertilizer to it and zoom away it goes.

But the whole point of having this picture in here is the study of the petals and leaves. Look at the color on the right side of the flower. See how it turns and with some color you can make the illusion of the petal rolling over.

Notice the dark red in the center and the pollinator. Another thing is the blurred back ground. I think it is all observation of what you want to paint.

Try it you'll like it and keep your brushes wet.

As most of you know I like, no wait, Love to draw trees. This is a Maple in the neighbors lot. This tree was just coming in to the leafing time this spring.

I like the fact that I sat in the house and could draw this old tree. I could find the angle of the road and field as well as the shadows.

The more I draw and paint the more I "see" and man do I enjoy it. We all are finding our own Identity in life and we need to "see" what we are doing.

Let's get our pencils sharp and our brushes wet.

This something I have been trying to do for a while now, make a light back ground and interesting fore ground.

This light multicolored back ground is made with lots of gesso and then add color light to dark. I also spray a fine mist on the face of the canvas.

The vase is layered I do a dark under painting then add a layer of imposto over it thinking about the shape being round. Keep the side light then finding the highlights I have used light blue for and accent and repeat it in the flowers and the base.

This is a fun project you may want to try it. Well gang lets keep our brushes wet and paint on!
