Hay gang, its been a very crazy week with a birthday Monday, and a couple of doctors appointments in between. So...

Today offering is another version of "Will Kemp's" video of a Monet. This is a very limited pallet and the tashe or touch brushstroke that Monet and impressions captured is featured here.

If you haven't seen an Impressionist painting go to your local museum or the closest one to you! Check out the quick brush strokes, the colors and the buildup of paint.

Well anyway I'm back now for a while and lets go thru some more paintings. Also Thanks to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday!!!

This is in the park near Destin, Florida these dunes are wild and I did a dozen watercolors of them.

To the Left was an area called the bowl, I painted it a few times.

This was fantastic, a great day and a fun time in Florida.

Now the hard part painting the sand especially the white sand. Also trying to capture the grasses and the shadows.

For once the clouds were the easiest part of the painting.

Plain air places!

I was asked to paint a sunflower (I'll do it!) with music notes for the seeds and floating around.
Well as you can see I jumped at the chance.

In fact I did three pictures so they could choose which one they wanted. This one is a little crazy with its pedals twisting every which way.

This is a tall canvas, with a very watery back ground.

Love to paint these crazy ones now and again.

In 2014 we did the play, "Into the Woods".

Again I was painting in an impressionist style the farther back you are the more into focus it became.

Of all the things I've done I miss this the most, helping the cast and the crew. painting and drawing the sets out.

This was hard work but it was also a lot of fun.

These tree are just beginning to bud, it is Spring in Ohio.

I like this compositions, I would call this a reverse"C". The trees are on the right and everything sweeps toward the foreground in an arc or "C"this keeps your eye moving in towards the center of interest.

I can see this spot painted in a couple of different way, first as is.
Secondly as a fully bloomed and leaves of summer picture with green grasses and summer light.

I like sycamore trees because of the green cast on the lower part of the tree and the white uppers. I think it is more intriguing.

Lets get our brushes out and a canvas.

Will Kemp has a great you tube video about this painting. I watched it and was able to pick up some super tips about how Monet painted his pieces. The touch and dab makes the whole thing come together.

Many of the Impressionist used this technique. Pissaro, Degas, Renoir and many more. Artist today still use this in a limited way some with great skill.

I enjoyed this painting, it was a winters day and I was able to learn a little bit about using a limited pallet.

By using a few colors and the touch and dab approach I was able to capture the general feel of this painting.
I may use the other painting of this same scene I think you'll like it.

These books have lately been an inspiration to me. Irving Stone's "Lust for Life", the life of Van
Gogh. It's a romantic look at Vincent with mostly historic facts. I read it 40 years ago.

The other book by:Steven Naifeh and Gregory White Smith, "Van Gogh The Life" is more factual and harder to read because Van Gogh was a troubled soul.

The Monet "Life at Giverny" is fantastic it examines his time moving to Giverny and the pieces that were painted there. The Family and the results of all their ups and downs.

Both books have great pictures by these famous artist. Sunflowers and Waterlilies. People and Landscapes! I recommend them both! A-1
