We define shape by the shadows and the lights. Is it round or square, is it tall or short? Our eye will Explain that to us because of the "color" and light.

Shadows can not be without the light. Then we define distance by the warm and cool. The closer something is the darker and warmer it is, the farther away it is its cooler and lighter.

Highlights and low lights are a whole different thing. But by putting the subject next to the lightest light it deepens the darkest dark.

Ah child keep your brushes wet!

Matisse, Van Gogh, and others painted things they saw.  Matisse would collect items from his vacations and travels. Picasso saw what Matisse was doing with the African masks and art work.  He began to copy the idea.

Fabrics, cups, mask and other household items can be art.
People ask how do you get ideas to paint? Most of my ideas are landscapes but the thought of painting in the the house with Items from the house brilliant!

Elevating a subject to the status of art is not unique. Painters have done this for centuries. I believe it is your ability or desire to find something to paint.

Pick up something on vacation and put it on the shelf then Keep you brushes wet and paint away!

I just like the Stuff!

In the world you create as a painter it is always sunny or gloomy depending on your mood. You can make the world smile or frown. As Bob Ross says."It's your world make it what you want."

I think in life we can do that also. I know I am so looking forward to the spring when I can plant some of my flowers. Then keep the bunny's out of the garden.

The time change is coming up in the next few days. The sun is getting stronger as this side of the world turns to the sky.

I want for you to find a picture to paint and just enjoy to process, learn and live. We so often struggle with stupid stuff. Shake it off. Go for your dreams. Paint or write. Most of all find true love.

Keep your brushes wet!

Sunny in the painting world.

First you paint to learn then you  paint to earn. I mostly paint for my self now, but now and again I paint one and let it go for some green.

At first I thought how nice someone wants to buy one of my masterpieces. But then I realized it wasn't the money but what it did for me. I can buy more paint and canvas, eat out and well keep the brush wet.

Even more than all that. The good things in your heart, that idea you had and painted, all your creative sweat. The second guessing. The changing of the color then changing it back. Oh child I have been there. LOL Ha!Ha!  But then it all comes together! Viola!

Well keep the brush wet and ready to go!

When they buy!

When  I draw or paint I look at the negative space of the Item or subject. This watercolor is set against the dark sky. To get the size and shape of the lighthouse I look to the shape between the house and the tower of the lighthouse.

You can do a drawing of any thing, horses or  people or dogs and cats. The negative space way of drawing and painting is not new and is a little contrary to normal or conventional thinking.

Oh yes be positive in your  life but when you draw you can find the edges of what it is your painting.
That is the way to draw in the negative space it helps when you want to get a shape. Look at what is not there then draw that. Confusing? Well keep at it and it will work for you.

Keep your  brushes wet and be negative.

Don't be Negative but draw that way!

This was a great day! Love to go and be with these guys finding mushrooms and eating at the A & W. Only one of the gang was missing. Maybe next time.
