When you lay out a painting it is best to find the darks then you can add the light.

With Watercolor you would work from light to dark. Acrylics and Oil painting is just the reverse.

By identifying the darks it is a matter of learning to see what it is you are painting.

Keep your brushes wet and paint on.

No Internet for three days agggg!
Okay 20 years ago I may have said no one needs the internet, but after a couple of days without it whoa.

It's like poking the turtle with a broom. Not much happens. Some nut dug into the ground and cut the big cable shutting off my and hundreds of others service.

Now the real problem is hooking everything back up to the service, you see me and the turtle are not very internet savvy.

Keep painting and get your permit before you dig!!!!!!

Every year at Christmas we get the dog a gift. Only a dog bone or a toy but here you go. I guess we all want something.

I am Thankful for what I do have and what I can give. By giving back a little bit I get so much more.
My wish for you is this little blog gives you some insight to art and creative thinking.

Have a happy holiday!

Everybody gets a gift

A few years ago in the Met Modern Art Gallery a rather famous piece of art was hung for display. The art work was in place for several weeks. One day a student came by and asked why the piece was hanging upside down?

When we make a piece of art we want our viewers to enjoy our creation. I know I have said this to my children and grand children. "What is it?" Somewhere there is a class to take on how to love abstract art.

Well kids Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

All three of our boys are givers! Thank you. This year Andy got me. Usually it is Jon or Dan but this time Andy hit the target. The thing is I never expect any thing.

The gift this year is something I may not have bought my self. But something I would have used a piece at a time. Canvas!!!!

Now old pops you got to come up with some thing to paint. Just look at those blank canvases.
Life is like that, a blank canvas that you can paint on.

I can't wait to chose something to paint!!!

Thanks boys!

Keep your brushes wet and canvases clean.
