Loose or tight

The Chinese artist paint a flowing mountain or bird. Loose and wet they almost skip over the silk and paper using watercolors.

I feel I paint birds to tight or ridged.  Knowing the shape or size of your subject is one thing, drawing it or painting it is another.

I love the sparrow, but the Cardinal not so much. So keep working on them and step away.

Keep your brushes wet and loose.
