Monet got Madder and other colors in this painting

"My pallet is Lead White, Cadmium Yellow, Vermillion,  Madder, Cobalt Blue, Chrome Green, That's All."
Monet had refined his pallet to the colors he saw in the area. No more blacks or other dark colors that could not be made with blues.

After years of painting he refined the pallet to his best and most acceptable color choice. He painted the air.  The air consisted of the choice I stated above. Landscapes and other projects he painted were always with the atmosphere in mind.

He would plan and layout his paintings with a very critical eye. The compositions were flawless. He said I will not teach anyone how to paint.  He knew you needed to learn on your  own. We can look back and discover how he did his projects, and that will teach us. A most amazing man and painter. When he died the undertaker put the customary black cloth on his casket, but friends said, "No black for Monet!" They put a flowered cloth on his casket and there it remained until the burial.

Keep refining and keep your brushes wet.
