Back to Basics

This is one of the first paintings I did for this blog. Son Jon has it at his house. I really like this picture as with many of my paintings. This is a place I have been.

I notice the sky is not busy and the far bank is calm the beaver dam is just getting started on this creek. There is a lot of brush in the fore ground but the birch trees are the focus of the painting.

Let the basic colors stand alone. bringing the light up. By letting it come to you as you finish the painting.

So when you paint start with the basics and build on that!

Keep your  brushes wet!
