1886 A time of Artist

The impressionists were in a bubble of time. They painted in a way to break out of a locked in "Art for the upper class" only. The French had the "Solon" where only the mild and bucolic were allowed in to the private place to show  their art.

The impressionist were rebels who changed art for ever. No one saw art the same after they  hit the scene. Like all rebels they had to fight to have people like and pay for their art.

Monet would get up early to catch the sun rise or the change in atmosphere. Other artist would strap on the easel and canvases with their paints and walk off in the country and paint the landscape.

They endured people poking fun and throwing cabbages and cutting down the trees they were painting.  The farmers charge Monet several pennies to cross their land.

But they over came these challenges to paint some of the most amazing canvases. The
1880's were a time of the new artist.

Let's keep our brushes wet and paint what we see!
