The Next Step

Yesterday I posted a panel I had toned with burnt sienna. The Next step is to draw my picture in charcoal (I use a vine charcoal) remembering to divide it into thirds. Also keeping the center of interest slightly to the left.

I wanted the sky to be very light and the ocean a value or so darker.
I will next paint in the dark under values and shadow for the rocks and grasses.

Later I'll do the details and add highlights. sometimes as you paint you'll find you may like a flatter or more plain picture, but the temptation is to go past that.

Don't putter, pick, and play. We all do ... well lets see what we'll do for tomorrow.
