Scrub and put in Under-painting

When you paint you need to lay in the under painting. I think some of us believe that  we can paint right to the color or detail we want.

Another thing that is important is the building of values to create distance. For example in this painting we used the light color in the far pine trees then the darker color for the trees closer to the viewer. Next we warmed up the colors and brought them forward.

As you bring your  colors forward you want to warm them up and make them more detailed. I added the tree almost in our face as though we are looking out a window and the tree is right there.

Well keep you distant colors light and your brushes wet!
