Choke up on the bat

Every kid that has played baseball has heard these words, "Choke up on the bat!"
Meaning move your hands up on the handle of your hitting instrument (bat) so you get a better swing at the ball.

In painting you need to move your hands down to the end of the handle. This will loosen up your painting. Most of us complain how tight we feel our paintings have become. If so look at your hand are you using your paint brush like an ink pen? Don't! Move your hand toward the end of the brush.

Now is there times when I need to hold the brush like a pen? Yes on certain details or lines. The good painter knows when to do what and that comes from lots of practice. Now if you don't know what tight painting is, or loose painting, or what baseball is well you maybe on the wrong blog.

Okay I'll let up, keep your  brushes wet and your paintings loose.
