Two Stories or not

Who  do you  believe? One of my painting hero's say don't try  to tell a story  with your paintings. The other  says let every project tell its own story.

Do you want to tell a story? Then let your drawing do that and go from there. Gauguin would show the angels flying above the head of the minster in his paintings. Other painters would paint the heavens and future, but they painted for the church. Today I think more and more painters paint what they see or feel.

The break away from the mandatory painting of the church and state style paintings have changed art for ever.We paint what we want or what we can.
