Shades of Green

Teal, greens, and blue. Seas are beautiful with all these colors. When you paint them you need to find the darks and pull them out first this way when you do your lights you can really hit the highlights.

If you do this picture in watercolor you can scrape the white waves in with a knife or use white gouache to drag the color in.

I love the oceans restlessness it is that sound of the surf even in the evening that puts you to sleep, like a raining night on an old tin roof.

This is in the Gulf of Mexico near Panama Beach, Florida.  I sat here and painted the turquoise of the deep ocean. Try this painting and you'll see how much you can get lost in it.
