Not that warm yet

Yes it is warm but it is not quite warm enough to swim. The French Impressionist all seem to paint folks outside in some activity. Swimming, picnicking, and dancing are just a few of their paintings.

Renoir painted with his pal Monet at the frog pond.  A popular spot in the northern Paris area. But not to many years before this no one swam.

In Spain and England the Royals needed the salt water baths according to the doctors of the day. Once the royals dipped a toe then everyone jumped in.

So the next step is the artist to paint the people having fun and mixing it up with others. 

Keep your  head above water and your brushes wet.
