Long Shadows

As winter fades to spring the long shadows also fade. The earth rotates toward the sun and we begin to pick up the longer days and warmer breezes.

This is a painting by  Borrows an Ohio artist. I love  the long shadows  and the feeling of deep snow. This masterpiece hangs in the Columbus Museum of Art where you can see many other pieces of his works.

As you paint out side think about the shadows and how quick they move away from you. You only  have a short time to capture the deepest darks. Within minutes the earth has rotated and the whole scene has changed.  So paint fast!
