Winter Sunset!

This picture always gets me going. The brush of color the dab of light. Far off trees scratching the clouds. Sunset pulling the veil over our part of the world.

Winter in Ohio is amazing, one minute like yesterday its 60 degrees, warn as can be then today snow and cold in the 20's. It has been said if you don't like Ohio weather, wait 5 minutes it will change.

If I were to paint this one, I would take a black canvas and use transparent colors like Alizarin Crimson and Indian Yellow and blend it very softly. Then with a rigger brush or "daddy long legs" script liner, I would paint the small looking trees reaching to the clouds.

This could be a fun and abstract style painting. or a detailed landscape or nightscape.

Well its off for more fun and games in the studio. Keep our brushes wet!
