I am amazed

How do you paint like this? The composition is very complicated. The focus of the action is the master of the ballet. With so many girls moving, stretching, and in the far end they are putting on shoes.

Degas was a master of the human figure. He could draw one or two girls then add them to the painting as needed. This is one of two paintings of the the same basic scene.

When asked how to eat an elephant the man said one bite at a time. The same goes with this style of painting. Do one part at a time. We build up to this not start with this project. I would guess Degas was painting for twenty years or more when he did this painting.

To me it is amazing how this project gets done. Yet it is truly a desire on the artist part.
