Reference Photos "The Mountain"

This our local mountain, I know Not a real big mountain. This the Ski Lodge from a few years ago, they have changed a lot and soon will be open. www.skimadriver.com

I like the shadows and pine trees you see. For an artist it is the little things in a landscape that are more interesting than the actual "stuff in the frame" that draw us.

But seriously the color of the snow the shadows of the trees the few people going up the mountain. One could frame this into thirds to find the best part to paint.

And another idea is not all snow is white. It is shadowed with blues and grays. The trees are dark and middle tones as well as the highlight of yellows and ocher's.
Find your subject and divide it up until you can find that most interesting part. Many famous artist painted common subjects and made them exciting not the other way around.

Take some pictures of what you find interesting and keep them for future reference.

Paint today kids its time to enjoy the future!!!  And if you like you can go Skiing!
