Trust the Brush

The more I paint the more I see things to paint.  The other bit is to paint new and different back grounds. Experiment with wild and mild colors in the base of the your painting.

The eye is drawn to the lightest part of the painting. Light expands and the dark withdraws. So blast the light. I know the Impressionist all wanted to paint the light or atmosphere.

Let your mind wander a bit when you prep the background. try different colors, colors that clash and colors that harmonize and colors that are neutral.
