Bloody Lane Antietam, MD

Some places in America are just amazing. One for the beauty, others for the history and still others for the pure depth of feeling of the place. This is one of those places.  Full of history, and feeling. It is where hundreds of patriots died.

The beauty lies in the composition of the wooden fence and the monuments. The trees shade this old lane and the farm wagons with oxen going to market in days gone by can almost be heard.

I have walked this lane on a hot day and wondered what it was truly like. Fear and terror, men screaming and shooting trying to over come the other side. Friends dying beside you.

Artist from far away news papers came here to draw pictures of the battle.  The new technology of photograph also made a showing. They laid the battle at our feet.

I drew a few of these places and was so surprised by the whole battlefield.

Let keep you brushes wet and Thanks Son Jon for fixing the computer!
