Paint and Colors Equal Light

Oil paint, Acrylic, and Watercolor, these are basic painting mediums and with respect to colors they each have a different intensity.

I rank Oil as first because of the old masters use of it in almost every painting from the earliest times. It is almost like butter on canvas plus the golden effects one can achieve.
Next would be Acrylic because of the ease and access, clean up, and color fastness. Lots of colors and great coverage. Truly a choice of many modern masters.
Then Watercolor, it is hard to learn but once you get the idea down it is a very easy use medium plus the effects one can get. Some artist use it for thumbnail type sketches in the field then bring it back to the studio for larger paintings.

Okay a few other terms, Opaque meaning impenetrable by light.
Light fastness, meaning a color or painting will hold up well under most conditions. (In the light.)
Transparent, light is seen trough the color. (The color is not opaque.)
Wash, meaning a light swipe of color usually watercolor and transparent.

Well still more to come hang tough!
