Nevada Mountains

Every time I get a chance to take a picture of mountains I do.
 I study the shadows. The concave shadows and rock projections. The lay of the land.

These are mountains south of Las Vegas toward Arizona. As you can see there is no real foliage visible on the mountain, but if you are up there you see all kinds of grasses.

When the old timers painted this type of mountain they picked out the deep purples and blues. They  let the grays go and focused on the shadow and "expressionist " colors.

Lets dip into purple and paint away, and keep your brushes wet.
