Hero's Exposed

For me My first exposure to the Impressionist blew my mind! How could a painter with so much precision paint with a few slap dash bits of color make a painting come alive?

Well I had to know more, and began to read, Van Gogh the romantic loner, Manet the rough "boss" ( he was not really an Impressionist) of the group until Monet came along.  Renoir the kindly dish painter.  And so on....   Until you find another book that says the opposite. Van Gogh a mentally ill, OCD wack job. Whom took everyone to task if they didn't see it his way! Manet sick with a STD who in reality wanted to be recognized by the Academic De Paris.

So with all of that be careful of whom you raise to the pedestal, I know we love to put our hero's up high, then tear them down with glee and hope they rise again.

But we and they are just human, and they are trying to do a project because they have to. They must! Renoir couldn't stop painting, Van Gogh with his Illness couldn't stop. On an On, we painters need to paint.

Keep your hero's close and your brushes wet!
